I’ve decided to scrap most of the material [ed. for the new album]. It was pretty much ready to go, but I don’t think its up to scratch any more.

Good enough by contemporary metal/music standards. But if we’re honest “good” nowadays doesn’t have the same currency it used to. Standards are way below the actual benchmark.

I could have gone ahead and just released it anyway, but the worlds already full of half-baked crap and I’m sick of us (even the people writing the music) passively accepting it.

In the meantime I’m sticking with the concept of the work but going to try to build something really worthwhile. No idea when you can expect it.

Bold move? In a time when everyone and their dog has a band, a demo and a Myspace maybe its the braver thing to not release something, especially if its not worth anyones time. Lets hope that the next album will be something special.

Intricate, intense death metal from San Antonio, Texas. Just about the only exciting prospect in death metal these days.

Mushin are back with a new album, the follow up to last years Realm Of Corrosion, – available here as a free download. Building on the format of ROC1, ROC2 brings more detail and a stronger sense of movement/narrative to the pieces. A genuine improvement on its predecessor and a worthwhile addition to the genre.

The downloadable version of Beithíoch’s Aisling Dhorcha has changed. The version that was on this site has been replaced with the newer remastered version of the album, albeit at a lower (but still listenable) bitrate.

For those of you who have the old mp3 version of the album its still worth downloading the new one for its better, crisper balance of sound.
